VALUES
Teachings and Stories of Jesus — because Jesus is at the heart of everything we believe and do, we will commit to being a community rooted in and formed by his incarnation, life, death, and resurrection.
Healthy Relationships — the whole of God’s law was summarized by Jesus as loving God, others, and ourselves. It is our hope to create spaces and provide tools for people to develop healthy relationships in all three areas of their lives.
Generous Orthodoxy — understanding that we are imperfect people seeking a relationship with a perfect God, we hold to the historic Christian faith while remaining open to the diverse interpretations of scripture within the body of Christ.
Deep and Wide Formation — formation is the process of becoming more loving through the work of the Spirit and the work of each follower of Jesus. Deep formation is paying attention and being curious about our inner world (feelings and thoughts) along with spiritual practices that lead us inward, upward, and outward. Wide formation is the work of borrowing the wisdom of other traditions, disciplines, and perspectives because “God’s invisible qualities — his eternal power and divine nature — are clearly seen and understood by what has been made.”
Generosity — we are a people made in the image of a generous God. We believe that every good gift we have we received from Him. The reason he gives us so much is that we would share with others.
Our Pastor
Alex has been in pastoral ministry since he graduated from the University of Southern California in 1997. He received his MDiv and ThM from Gordon Conwell. Since then he has served in different roles (youth, church planter, executive and lead pastor) and different contexts (immigrant, multiethnic and urban churches). In 2024 Alex and his family moved back to Los Angeles, where he was born and raised, to start Prodigals.
