Sunday Gatherings
11:15AM @ THE REVERY
Even though Los Angeles doesn’t have “four” seasons, there are distinct rhythms living in this city. Our Sunday gatherings follow a 90-day cycle to help prepare us for each season we step into.
Our services are different week to week however there is a thoughtful flow we hope will help people experience and extend the love of Christ. Below are the different types of services we have and a calendar of our current 90-day series.
Liturgical Services
During every 90 Day Series we will have three liturgical services that include music, readings, prayers, teaching, and communion. Click here for a sample of the worship bulletins we use on these Sundays.
Spiritual Practices
Every teaching series we come to passages that require reflection, dialogue, and different spiritual practices to help us live out the Gospel in our lives. On these Sundays we start with a time of teaching and then introduce a simple practice. One a series we will have a prayer gathering where we pray together in non-conventional ways. For example, one week we had people write down their wants and needs and then they lit an incense stick as an act of trust that what they wrote down is in God’s heart. Sometimes we breakout into small group discussions. Other times we have writing exercises to consider what Jesus is asking of us.
Community Service
Once every 90 days we use our Sunday gathering to serve the city of Los Angeles as our act of worship to God. We have partnered with She is Hope LA, a non-profit that serves single mothers in our city and their children.

On Sunday August 23 Pastor Alex will provide an overview of the new series and lead us in crafting a “Rule of Life” for the next 90 Days.
According to Pete Scazzero a Rule of Life is “an intentional, conscious plan to keep God at the center of everything we do…a desire to be with God and to love him.”

On October 11 and 18 we will be looking at Romans 15:7-13 where Paul says we are to accept one another just as Christ accepted us.
Part 1 of this passage we will be doing Kintsugi together. Kintsugi is the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery. We will be naming our brokenness and putting the pieces together as a reminder that the work of Jesus is making us more beautiful through our imperfections.

On Sunday October 25 we will have music, readings, prayer, teaching, and communion as we reflect on the call to teach one another in Romans 15:14-22. How do we teach without being judgmental, overbearing, and self-righteous?
-
Every 90-days we set aside one week to pray together. These times of prayer are not your traditional prayer gatherings. We try to create a thoughtful and safe space for people to participate. For example, our last prayer gatherings was just sharing what was going on in your life and someone in the group would light a candle for you as a prayer to God on your behalf.
-
In Romans 13 Paul says “let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another.” In light of this passage we will participate in a community service project together as our act of worship to God.
-
As a bonus series we will be looking at the teachings of Paul, Jesus, and the Old Testament to see what they taught regarding sexuality and what this means for us today.
